We have a blog!?
Yup....we do! I had actually almost forgotten about this, but it is a good way to update information in regards to recent news of the band, without clogging up facebook or our website.
So I've been busting my butt remixing Big Picture for these final mixes. Her Twin and Soul Control are officially, 100% done. I will be making no more changes to them, and will instead put my time into the remaining songs, plus the writing of new material. We've also been playing around with different versions of songs as bonus tracks and what not. Anyway, when these things are done, there will be multiple posts about them. Well, time to continue mixing.

Some Music! Finally!
Here's the finished (well maybe) mix of Amputee. It was originally written back in 2004 with Tim's old band, Reduced to Ashes. Last year, Bruce and I decided to rerecord it, mainly because we just wanted an excuse to use the studio. A few months afterward, we were able to get the singer from the original band, Dave Kiel, to redo the vocals for the tune. A year later, I was finally able to finish the mix. I think we may put this on the CD as well, even though its technically a "cover" (though I was a part of the original writing of the tune). In any case, enjoy!

Further Advancement into the Realm of Prog-nicity
Bruce has currently been hard at work developing artwork with several artists for the owlbum cover, and my my, I must say, it is going quite well! I got a little taste of what's to come, and it's very exciting! I'm sure we'll show those off somewhere when it's actually complete. Now to get my stuff together (mostly time) and finish up the production for this album.
Unfortunately, I'm going to have to rerecord some things, as I don't like the tone I got for the clean guitars and some of the bass tracks. Unfortunate, but we'll make it awesome.
So lately, I've had the thought of working on a second album with the spare time I may have this summer. The idea is for it to sound a bit like OSI, Devin Townsend's Ki, and Ayreon's Universal Migrator Part 1: The Dream Sequencer. However much I may want to work on this, it will not get in the way or negatively affect the owlbum currently at hand. Any thoughts?

...And So It Begins
So, as an idea given to him by Tim's girlfriend, we've decided to make a blog to post news about the group, whether or not it directly applies to what we are doing musically.
So whether or not you guys know, Owl is a progressive rock band, made up of Bruce Vermett (vocals, drums, sequencing, ipod), and Tim Chimes (vocals, bass, guitars, lyricist, recording engineer), and we are currently busy at work recording our first album, Big Picture. The "Owlbum" is to include guests, such as Shaun Vanek (Eternal Legacy), Doug Neel (guitar and jazz instructor at Tiffin, Terra, and BGSU), Scott Hillard (Phaseshift), Taylor Newlove, and Paul Niebrzydowski, and will be very much in the same vein of more modern progressive acts, such as Dream Theater, Pain of Salvation, Opeth, Riverside, and Porcupine Tree. We currently have many of the tracks recorded, and in the next couple months will be working on solos, vocals, sequencing, and mixing. The album is due to be completed by the end of July.
In other musical news, Tim, on behalf of college radio station WBGU, had the privilege of interviewing Sonata Arctica vocalist Tony Kakko on their tour bus in Detroit, on April 10. The interview was digitally recorded, and will be up soon if anyone is interested in listening.
